Mulch & Soils

Bio Organic Soils, Vegan Compost, Plants & More

MULCH:

Native Hardwood Mulch or the equivalent is a diverse mix of native hardwood trees, leaves, and plant material free of any plastics, lumber, or other non-vegetative debris. Product is double ground with a final grind of 1.5”. Between the first and second grind, the native materials will be composted a minimum of 6-9 months to kill any pathogens and weed seeds while being kept aerobic during the aging process. Providers must be able to show records through product record keeping as required by TCEQ and through photos of the product throughout the processes to verify these standards. By adhering to these strict standards, the mulch will be rich in beneficial microorganisms and be well composted.

Native Hardwood Mulch by Texas Mulch Masters meets and exceeds these specifications.

COMPOST/PLANTING MIX:

Opt 1. Handcrafted Vegan Compost or the equivalent; as a prep and or planting soil consisting of aerobically composted, biologically diverse native plants and organic fruit, vegan quality, stable, and weed seed-free organic matter.

Opt 2. Premium Flowerbed & Garden Soil or the equivalent; aerobically composted, biologically diverse native plants, vegan quality, stable, and weed seed-free organic matter with excellent porosity using washed large-grain sharp sand.

Opt 3. Premium Rose & Azalea Soil or the equivalent; as a prep and or planting soil consisting of aerobically composted, biologically diverse native plants and organic fruit, vegan quality, stable, and weed seed-free organic matter, with excellent porosity using washed large-grain sharp sand, slightly acidic with natural pine bark yielding a pH range of 5.0-6.5 and Special Reserve Green Sand.

Soils are a pH range of 6.0-7.5 (unless noted otherwise); matching the color of 70% pure cocoa chocolate; moisture content 35 to 55 percent by weight; 100 percent passing through 3/8” inch sieve; soluble salt content of 5 to 10 decisiemens/m; not exceeding 0.5 percent inert contaminants and free of substances toxic to plantings; a recent (within 6 months) soil food web, biological analysis should be available and provided; and as follows:

1. Organic Matter Content: minimum 50 to 60 percent of dry weight

2. Feedstock: Shall be 99% free of animal waste and exclude any and all materials from industrial residuals and bio-solids. Ideally compost products should be 99% derived from organic native trees, plants, fruits (and vegetables) as occurs in nature.

3. Testing: biological lab results current within 6 months showing a “good” or “in range” rating in both bacterial and fungal categories, as well as a reasonably balanced product.

SPECIALTY SOILS:

Premium Rose & Azalea Soil. Blend of TMM’s Handcrafted Vegan Compost, Large-grain angular sand, Black-Aged Pine Bark yielding a pH range of 5.0-6.5, and Special Reserve Green Sand with formulated inoculants and mineral package. Soil shall meet the same requirements and specifications of the above specified soils.

Applications: Premium Rose & Azalea Soil shall be used as a planting medium or for amending existing soil to lower the existing soil pH or for planted plants requiring an acidic environment. TMM’s “specialty” Rose & Azalea soil is formulated slightly different than TMM’s regular Rose & Azalea soil providing higher nutrient value and increased performance.

Super Sustain Soil. Blend of TMM’s Handcrafted Vegan Compost, Signature Expanded Shale, Large-grain angular sand, and Special Reserve Green Sand with formulated inoculants and mineral package. Soil shall meet the same requirements and specifications of the above specified soils.

Applications: Super Sustain Soil shall be used as a planting medium as a means of reducing watering requirements and improving soil draining capacity; designed for incorporating into existing soil for soil prep and or planting, or as a top-dressing for sod or turf seeding preparation; enabling roots to grow deeper and healthier, providing oxygen to the root zone, while reducing compaction and minimizing potential effects of drought.

Raised Bed & Square Foot Garden Soil. Blend of TMM’s Handcrafted Vegan Compost, Dark-aged Black Pine Bark, Signature Expanded Shale, Large-grain angular sand, and Special Reserve Green Sand with formulated inoculants and mineral package. Soil shall meet the same requirements and specifications of the above soils

Applications: Raised Bed & Square Foot Garden Soil shall be used as a planting medium in specialty planting of beds or where performance is critical to landscape project success.

Ingredients & Purpose:

– Expanded Shale allows air-flow and oxygen access directly to the root zone, captures and stores moisture within the soil to reduce watering requirements, and improves soil structure, provides a safe haven for beneficial microbes and helps reduce effects of city water flushing.

– Special Reserve Green Sand contains over 17 trace minerals and is high in Iron and Potassium. Also provides soil porosity. There are different levels of quality of green sand depending on deposit location.

– Dark-aged Black Pine Bark is two year composted pine bark aiding in lowering the pH of the soil while improving the structure and texture of the planting medium.

– Large-grain angular sand is the preferred sand for amending compact, clay soils for its large size, sharp angles and grains structure which allows the soil better drainage, improved structure and aids root-growth. Sand is washed to be absent of any weed-seeds and excess clay material. Does not create a hard crust on top of soil; stays in place enabling consistent porosity.

– Trace Mineral Pack contains over 70 trace minerals, essential microbial foods, beneficial bacteria & fungi strains and endo/ecto-mycorrhizae spores. Includes yucca, kelp, fish meal, rock phosphate, potassium sulfate, iron sulfate, corn meal, humates, alfalfa, molasses, cottonseed meal, manganese sulfate, zinc sulfate, amino acids, humic/folic acids, vitamins, biotin, and natural sugars to increase beneficial microbial populations that encourage bio-diversity in the soil imperative to plant health.
